H.E. Nicolas Weeks is the Ambassador of Sweden to Bangladesh, a position he assumed in 2024. Appointed by the Swedish Government in June 2024, he presented his credentials to Bangladesh’s President in October 2024.
A career diplomat, Ambassador Weeks joined the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 2000. Prior to his posting in Dhaka, he served as Sweden’s Ambassador to Bolivia, based in La Paz, where he had been posted since 2021. He was Sweden’s first ambassador with permanent residence in Bolivia.
Earlier in his career, he served as Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok and held diplomatic assignments at Sweden’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York and the Swedish Embassy in Beijing. He has also held positions at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Stockholm, including within its Human Resources, Asia-Pacific and European Union portfolios, and has experience with the Swedish Trade Council in Brussels.
