Barrister Andaleeve Rahman is the Minister of Information and Broadcasting of Bangladesh and a Member of Parliament representing the Bhola-1 constituency. He was appointed to the cabinet in August 2026, marking his first ministerial assignment, after being re-elected to Parliament earlier in the year.
Rahman is the Chairman of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP), a position he has held since 2008 following the death of his father, Naziur Rahman Manzur, the party’s founding chairman and a former minister and mayor of Dhaka. Rahman began his political career in 2000 and was first elected to Parliament from Bhola-1 in the 2008 general election. He returned to the constituency as its elected representative in 2026. He also chairs the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
A barrister by profession, Rahman pursued legal studies in London and was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn in 1997. After returning to Bangladesh, he trained under prominent lawyer Barrister Rafiqul Haque and went on to establish a career in legal practice and education. He also serves as Principal of the British School of Law in Dhaka, a recognised teaching centre supporting University of London law programmes.
As Information and Broadcasting Minister, Rahman has emphasised cooperation rather than control in the government’s relationship with the media, while highlighting the media’s role in democracy, public communication and national unity. The current ministerial appointment is confirmed by the August 2026 cabinet announcement, while the Bangladesh Parliament lists him as the sitting MP for Bhola-1. His position as Principal of the British School of Law is also independently listed by both the institution and the University of London.
