Muhammad Nawshad Zamir is a Bangladeshi lawyer and politician serving as a Member of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad from the Panchagarh-1 constituency. Elected in February 2026 as a candidate of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), he received 176,169 votes. He also serves as the BNP’s International Affairs Secretary.
A Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Zamir has built a legal career spanning constitutional and administrative law, corporate and banking matters, taxation, commercial disputes, arbitration, energy law, human rights, project finance and Islamic finance. His professional experience has included work with Jurists Chambers and Jamiruddin & Jurists, legal work for the Islamic Development Bank in Saudi Arabia, and consultancy on court-administration reform for the World Bank.
Zamir holds an LL.M. from the University of Dhaka, where he graduated with first-class results and received the Justice Amin Ahmed Gold Medal. He later earned an LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 1996 and was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn in 1999. He also holds an MSc in Taxation from the University of Oxford, where he was affiliated with Harris Manchester College and received the course prize in Taxation of Global Wealth.
In Parliament, Zamir has been involved in legislative scrutiny and committee work on law, justice and parliamentary affairs. In August 2026, he chaired the parliamentary committee reviewing the National Human Rights Commission Bill and the Transfer of Property (Amendment) Bill. His career combines legal practice, public policy, international affairs, governance, diplomacy and national parliamentary service in Bangladesh today.
