Dr. Mohammed Parvez Imdad is a development economist, public policy specialist, and former senior member of the Bangladesh Civil Service, where he served in the Ministries of Finance, Foreign Affairs, Establishment, the Economic Relations Division, and the offices of the Finance Minister and Prime Minister. He represented Bangladesh in major bilateral and multilateral negotiations, including World Bank–IMF and Asian Development Bank annual meetings. He later served at the Asian Development Bank for 18 years in senior roles, including Head of Contracts, Principal Country Specialist, Country Team Leader, and Unit Head for Regional Cooperation and Integration. He led country partnership strategies, policy dialogues, operational missions, and sector programmes across the Asia-Pacific region, including ADB operations in Bangladesh and several Southeast Asian countries.
Dr. Imdad contributed significantly to ADB’s regional cooperation frameworks and programmes involving ASEAN, SAARC, the Greater Mekong Subregion, and BIMP-EAGA. He also led knowledge strategies and development-partner coordination initiatives for Bangladesh and served as Vice Chair of the ADB Staff Council and Association. Based in Virginia, USA, he now works as a Senior Advisor, Lead Consultant, Policy Analyst, and researcher in the greater Washington, DC area. He holds MSS, MPhil, and PhD degrees in Economics, as well as a PhD in Public Administration, and is a recipient of the Chancellor’s Gold Medal. He is Founder and President of the Bangladesh Knowledge Forum and Foundation, a founding member of the Society for International Development Bangladesh chapter, and a member of the International Public Management Network. He also serves as International Advisor to the CGS USA Advisory Board and has authored several publications.
