Nikolaos Margaropoulos

Nikolaos K. Margaropoulos was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, on March 30, 1965. He is an Attorney-at-Law before the Greek Supreme Court and a member of the Thessaloniki Bar since 1994, serving as Managing Partner of Margaropoulos & Associates – Scientia Legis Law Firm, a practice established in 1953 with offices in Thessaloniki and Athens. He studied Law both in Greece, at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and in Italy, at the Law Faculty of Macerata University, and is fluent in English, Italian, and Spanish, in addition to holding a degree in Sign Language.
Since 1995, Mr. Margaropoulos has served as Honorary Consul of the Philippines in Thessaloniki. He has built an extensive career within the international consular community, culminating in his election as President of FICAC (the World Federation of Consuls) for the terms 2022–2025 and 2025–2028. Within FICAC, he previously served as Secretary General (2015–2022), a Board of Directors Member (2009–2022), Chairman of the Legal Committee, and Regional Chairman for South Europe. He presided over the 7th World Congress of Consuls in Athens (2003) and coordinated the 13th World Congress of Consuls in Limassol (2022). He has also been a frequent guest speaker for consular corps and academic institutions worldwide on the humanitarian and peacemaking role of the Honorary Consul, and has contributed to the Springer-published volume Contemporary Diplomatic and Consular Relations, as well as to the Executive Diploma in Diplomacy program at Anatolia American University.
His institutional leadership extends well beyond the consular sphere. He is President of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and Modern History of Macedonia, and a Trustee of Anatolia College since 2024. He has held senior roles at Pinewood American International School of Thessaloniki, the Italian-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce of Thessaloniki, and the Greek-Turkish Chamber of Northern Greece, which he co-founded as Secretary General. He served as Governor of Rotary District 2475 (2024–2025) and has held numerous other Rotary leadership positions. His civic involvement also includes Transparency International, the American Chamber of Commerce, the Propeller Club of the United States, and several cultural, alumni, and charitable associations in Thessaloniki.
Mr. Margaropoulos’s contributions have earned wide international recognition, including the Gusi Peace Prize (2021) for humanitarian and peace efforts, the FICAC Medal of Honor (2010), the Consular Corps Diplomatique of India Medal of Honor (2019), and Knighthood in Italy’s Ordine della Stella della Solidarietà Italiana (Cavaliere), conferred by the President of the Italian Republic (2009). He is an honorary citizen of Santo Domingo (2016) and has been recognized by two Philippine Secretaries of Foreign Affairs for his decades of consular service.
