Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin is a Malaysian political leader, corporate strategist, and advocate for women’s empowerment with more than two decades of experience in public service, policymaking, and community development. She represented Ampang as a Member of Parliament from 2008 to 2022 and served in two federal Cabinet positions: Minister of Housing and Local Government from 2018 to 2021 and Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities from 2021 to 2022. During her public career, she contributed to affordable housing programmes, stronger local government administration, sustainable urban development, and the advancement of Malaysia’s plantation and commodities sector. She has also been a consistent champion of women’s participation in politics, governance, entrepreneurship, and economic decision-making. Before entering politics, Datuk Zuraida developed a broad private-sector career spanning advertising, marketing, market research, insurance, corporate training, and business development. This multidisciplinary background enabled her to connect public policy with commercial realities, strategic planning, and economic opportunities. Her areas of expertise include public policy and governance, housing and urban development, local government administration, sustainable development, plantation and commodity industries, women’s leadership, stakeholder engagement, and community capacity building. Beyond elected office, she remains active in regional initiatives involving green technology, carbon-credit development, investment facilitation, sustainable business, and cross-border partnerships. She also supports programmes focused on youth development, leadership training, and social inclusion.
