Sreeradha Datta

Prof. Sreeradha Datta teaches International Affairs at O.P Jindal Global University presently. She is also a non-resident Senior Fellow with the Institute of South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore. Earlier, she was Senior Fellow and Centre Head, Neighbourhood Studies, Vivekananda International Foundation, New Delhi. She has also served as Director, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, Kolkata, Government of India, and has held fellowships with the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, New Delhi, Government of India. She holds a Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Her research interests include area studies-South Asia and India’s extended neighbourhood, Southeast Asia and the Bay of Bengal, and the Indo-Pacific. She has undertaken thematic studies on regionalism and cross-border issues, bilateral ties, and security studies.
She has authored and edited over ten books, including her latest edited volume, Bangladesh on a New Journey Moving Beyond Regional Identity. (2024, Bloomsbury) She co-edited Bangladesh at 50: Development and Challenges (2022, Orient Blackswan) and India-Bangladesh Bonhomie at 50: 1971 and the Present (2022, Vivekananda International Foundation).
Her authored books include Act East Policy and Northeast India (2021, Vitasta Publishing) and Caretaking Democracy: Political Process in Bangladesh, 2006-08 (2009, Pentagon Publisher); Bangladesh: A Fragile Democracy (2002, Shipra Publication). The Northeast Complexities and its Determinants (2000, Shipra Publication). Her other edited works include BIMSTEC: The Journey and Way Ahead (2021, Pentagon Publishing) and edited Changing Security Dynamics in South East Asia. (2008, Magnum Books)) She has also published over 200 articles in journals, edited volumes, newspapers and academic websites.
She continues to participate in various bilateral dialogues and is on university governing bodies and Journal editorial committees.
