Judith Mwaniki is an experienced development, governance, food security, project management, and advocacy specialist with more than 12 years of leadership experience in Kenya. Her work focuses on strengthening collaboration among governments, development partners, communities, and civil society organisations to design and implement inclusive and sustainable development programmes. She has held leadership roles in community-based organisations working across agriculture, gender equality, and natural resource management, where she has developed programmes addressing the social and economic priorities of communities in Laikipia County. She has worked extensively with smallholder farmers, strengthening their technical and organisational capacity to improve agricultural productivity, resilience, and long-term livelihoods. Her experience also includes advancing maternal and child health and nutrition, particularly for children under five and women of reproductive age, as well as implementing economic empowerment initiatives for women and young people.
Mwaniki has served as a programme manager and consultant with a leading development management consulting firm and think tank in sub-Saharan Africa. Through several World Bank Group assignments, she has engaged with all 47 counties in Kenya on agriculture, nutrition, food security, and natural resource management programmes. She has also worked with the Office of the Deputy Governor of Laikipia County, contributing to the design and implementation of participatory development policies, programmes, and projects. As an Adviser on Policy and Advocacy, she supported initiatives covering sustainable development, agriculture, gender and development, water, sanitation and hygiene, nutrition, food security, and education. Her expertise includes programme and project management, devolved governance, policy advocacy, resource mobilisation, partnership development, monitoring and evaluation, and the management of complex, multi-stakeholder and cross-border programmes. She is also experienced in capacity-building, training, and transferring practical knowledge and skills to rural communities to promote resilience, inclusion, and sustainable development.
