Gordan Stojović began his professional career in information technology, as part of the team that launched Montenegro’s first web portal — Montenegro.com Travel Portal — in 1996, and went on to develop the region’s first online booking system. This early work placed him at the intersection of Montenegro’s digital modernization and the growth of its tourism economy, at a time when the country was only beginning to build its presence online.
He later moved into international diplomacy, serving as Montenegro’s Ambassador to Argentina, during which he established the country’s initial diplomatic relations with most nations of South America. Since then, he has maintained a particularly close relationship with Argentina, home to one of the largest and most active Montenegrin diaspora communities in the world. His diplomatic and diaspora-focused work has centered on connecting with descendants of Montenegrin emigrants, encouraging the formation of new institutions and civic associations abroad, and supporting projects aimed at preserving cultural identity and reviving the memory of Montenegrin emigration across the Americas.
Alongside his diplomatic and public engagements, he built substantial experience in the energy and finance sector. He has been engaged in electricity trading, ETFs, and broader energy markets, developing a practical understanding of commodities and financial instruments. For several years, he also worked as a consultant for companies investing in the Southern Cone region — Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay — advising on market entry strategy and cross-border investment across that part of South America, an experience that gave him direct insight into the region’s economic and regulatory landscape.
From 2019 until October 2023, he was active in the private sector, developing a family company, before being elected to the Parliament of Montenegro. In the Assembly, he serves on the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants and the Committee on Tourism, Agriculture, Ecology and Spatial Planning, and chairs the parliamentary friendship group with Argentina, reflecting his continued focus on strengthening bilateral ties.
As International Secretary of the ruling party, the Movement Europe Now (Pokret Evropa sad), he led the process of bringing the party into the European People’s Party (EPP), strengthening its standing and network within the broader European political family. Over the past four years, he has also been part of the process driving the finalization of Montenegro’s EU accession negotiations, contributing to the country’s efforts to close negotiating chapters and advance toward full membership.
Taken together, his career reflects a rare combination of experience across sectors: early digital entrepreneurship, hands-on diplomatic service in South America, practical expertise in energy and investment markets, and a leading role in both party diplomacy and Montenegro’s European integration process. His time as Ambassador to Argentina and his ongoing engagement with the Southern Cone underscore a sustained commitment to deepening Montenegro’s ties with South America, while his work within the EPP and on the EU accession track highlight his role in shaping the country’s European future.
