Alexander Falck-Bilden is Deputy Head of Mission at the Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh. As part of the embassy’s leadership team, he works across a wide range of policy areas and contributes to Norway’s engagement with Bangladesh on political, economic, development, humanitarian and multilateral issues.
In his current role, he supports the embassy’s dialogue with government counterparts, international organisations, development partners, civil society and the private sector. His work includes political and economic analysis, development cooperation, donor coordination, humanitarian issues and reporting on developments relevant to Norwegian foreign and development policy. He also contributes to the embassy’s management and strategic planning and supports efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Norway and Bangladesh.
Before taking up his posting in Dhaka, Alexander completed the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ diplomatic training programme. During this period, he worked in the Section for East and Southeast Asia and the Section for Peace and Reconciliation, gaining experience across different aspects of Norwegian foreign policy and international engagement.
Alexander holds a master’s degree in East Asian Studies from Seoul National University. His graduate research focused on the political economy of North Korea and examined the relationship between political institutions, economic change and state-society relations. During his studies, he lived in South Korea, where he deepened his understanding of political and economic developments in East Asia.
His academic and professional interests include international politics, diplomacy, development and humanitarian issues, peace and reconciliation, and regional affairs in Asia.
