Mr. Gul has lectured and presented research at national and foreign universities and think tanks across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North America. He is the author of several widely recognized books, including What Lies Behind the Iron Brotherhood (on Pak-China relations), The Most Dangerous Place, The Al-Qaeda Connection, The Unholy Nexus, Pakistan: Before and After Osama bin Laden, and Pakistan: Pivot of Hizbut Tahrir’s Global Caliphate. Imtiaz Gul has been a journalist for the German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle and CNN before founding the independent think tank the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), established in January 2007.
As a distinguished security analyst, journalist, and author, he specializes in security, counterterrorism, governance, Afghanistan, regional affairs, and Indo-Pak relations and has in this capacity given lectures, compiled research papers and given presentations on militancy, religious radical groups in Afghan-Pak region, China at national and foreign universities and think tanks in Brussels, Tokyo, Berlin, London, Italy, Oslo, the Hague, Riyadh, Bahrain, New Delhi, Dhaka, Kabul, New York, Washington, Ottawa, Sao Paulo (Brazil), Riyadh, Bangkok, Beijing and Shanghai inter alia. Gul is a regular contributor to leading national and international publications and media platforms such as The Express Tribune, Al Jazeera, TRT, ABC News Australia on security and political economy.
